Materials & Care
Every piece of jewellery is handmade in my Oxford studio using high-quality metals, genuine pearls, and fine cotton threads. Because these designs combine metals with delicate natural elements and textile work, taking care of them gently will keep them looking beautiful for a long time.
Our Materials
Gold-Filled & Gold-Plated
I use gold-filled and gold-plated metal findings to give the jewellery a bright golden finish that is gentle on sensitive skin.
Gold-Filled: This is made by bonding a thick layer of solid gold to a base metal core. It is highly durable, resists tarnishing, and lasts much longer than standard plating.
Gold-Plated: A fine layer of gold over a base metal, perfect for achieving a clean, polished look.
Sterling Silver
A classic, bright, and durable metal that is hypoallergenic. Over time, silver naturally darkens slightly when exposed to air, but you can easily clean it back to a bright shine.
Freshwater Pearls
I use genuine freshwater pearls. Because they are formed naturally, every single pearl has its own unique shape and shine, meaning no two pieces of jewellery are exactly the same.
Micro-Crochet
The main feature of my botanical and marine designs is the intricate micro-crochet work. I crochet these pieces by hand using ultra-fine, premium 100% cotton yarn to capture tiny details.
Real Fruits & Plants (Resin Pieces)
Some of our designs use real flowers, plants, and fruit slices that are carefully dried and preserved inside a clear, protective layer of resin. Because these use real natural elements, every single piece will have its own natural variations in shape and colour.
How to Care for Your Jewellery
To keep your handmade pieces looking their best, here are a few simple tips:
1. Keep it dry
Even though the metals are high quality, freshwater pearls and cotton crochet threads do not like water.
Take your jewellery off before showering, swimming, or washing your hands.
Put on your perfume, hairspray, and lotions before putting on your jewellery, as chemicals can dull the pearls and wear down the gold plating.
2. Cleaning
Metals: Gently wipe the gold or silver parts with a soft, clean cloth after wearing them. Avoid harsh chemicals or rough brushes.
Pearls: Wipe them gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth only if needed. Never soak them in water.
Micro-Crochet: If the cotton threads catch a bit of dust, a gentle puff of air or a light brush with a clean, soft makeup brush will clean them up perfectly.
3. Storage
When you aren’t wearing your jewellery, keep it in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, which can fade the cotton threads over time. Storing your pieces in a small airtight pouch or a lined jewellery box will stop the silver from tarnishing and keep the threads safe from catching.
How to Care for Your Resin Jewellery
Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to harsh, direct sunlight or high heat can cause resin to soften, warp, or yellow over time. It can also cause the natural colours of the preserved plants to fade faster. Store these pieces in a dark, cool place like a jewellery box when you aren't wearing them.
Keep Away from Chemicals: Resin can be dulled or damaged by chemicals. Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, acetone (nail polish remover), hand sanitisers, or harsh household cleaning products. Always put your jewellery on after your perfume has dried.
Cleaning: If your resin piece gets smudged or fingerprints on it, simply wipe it down gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth (like a glasses cleaning cloth). Do not use abrasive brushes or hot water, as this can scratch the smooth surface.
